Description
“Junebug” is a joyful, ridiculous, bluegrass-inflected barn burner dedicated to my dear friends Alex and Ryan and their dog, June (whom they affectionately call “Junebug”). Having adulted their way into a lovely home in Bastrop, Texas, they keep us Austinite city-dwellers informed of the charms and harms of country living, from building chicken coops to June tearing up the yard as she chases groundhogs into their holes. In spite of its technical difficulty, “Junebug” should be played with reckless abandon and humor, and is a fitting stand-alone piece or palette-cleansing conclusion to a program.
